WhatsApp is releasing a new privacy feature ‘My contacts Except…’ for the Desktop Beta users. The new update will be available through the official beta channel which brings the version up to 2.2149.1. WhatsApp has released this update to their WhatsApp desktop beta app for windows. This update does not come with any official changelog, but somehow a source found out and tweeted a hidden privacy feature in the code of the app.

New privacy feature for WhatsApp : My contacts Except

According to release notes WhatsApp is working on to adding the option to choose “My contacts Except…” for privacy settings in a future update. WhatsApp recently introduced some latest ways to protect the privacy of its users in previous updates. Now in this latest update it is developing the ability to set My contact Except feature for your privacy settings within web/desktop.

According to a preview available this option will be available for last seen, about and profile photo. With this new option you can select who cannot see your shared information on WhatsApp. This option lets you hide your personal information from one or more specific person. This feature is currently under development and not yet available to the public.

But it should be released to WhatsApp web /desktop beta testers in a few weeks after completely releasing the same feature for Android beta and IOS beta. Important point to know is that even if the feature ‘My contacts Except…’ is already enabled for your WhatsApp account beta testers won’t be able to select or see my contacts except on WhatsApp web/ Desktop.
