WhatsApp is introducing new indicators feature for end-to-end encryption. The Meta owned instant messaging app is bringing two new indicators to make you feel safe about your chats and calls. This new indicators tell you that your chat and calls are always end-to-end encrypted. The WhatsApp team is planning to bring a new visual feature on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS.
This feature will make it more obvious that WhatsApp is, in fact end to end encrypted. The new indicators will show on the calling screen and the status screen on the iOS version. You will be told on the calling screen that your calls are protected by end to end encryption.
WhatsApp introducing the new Indicators feature
WhatsApp was built to help you stay in touch, share and reconnect with your friends and families. From day one it is always working on new features to make user experience more better. It rolled out end-to-end encryption in 2016 to make you more secure about your privacy. It uses the same encryption protocol till now as it’s rival signal which is the gold standard of any secure instant messaging apps these days.
This time WhatsApp has added a new visual characteristic of the same end-to-end encryption feature which will be available in the next updates of WhatsApp beta. This feature makes you sure that the chat between WhatsApp users and even those that they send on groups are protected, which means that the chat remains between them. Even WhatsApp or its parent company Meta cannot read the content of your message or not listen to them.
According to a screenshot shared by a source WhatsApp is going to add new indicators in the status and call section telling that your status updates, personal calls and group calls are always end-to-end encrypted. The platform also plans to add the same notice in chat section.
Along with this WhatsApp has also planned a new update on WhatsApp for Android to hold up the same feature in a coming date. Since this new visual feature is under development, it is not available to you right now. But we look forward for its availability in a future WhatsApp update for Android and iOS.
